Bethlem artists and staff selected to participate in 'What Remains ... Anatomy of an Artist' Festival Siobhan Davies Dance and Independent Dance and invite proposals for What remains…, the 6th annual WHAT festival, taking place at Siobhan Davies Studios on 5–6 March 2016. What remains…will be entirely composed of artists’ work generated from this call for ideas. The festival's central theme this year is the Anatomy of an Artist, inspired by the thoughts of Edmund Locard, a pioneer of modern forensics. We invite dance artists and practitioners from other disciplines to look at the ‘anatomy’ of an artist: to examine their methods, inspirations, influences, biography or indeed their actual anatomy, and propose a way to share this with the festival audience. Rather than focussing on celebrity or adulation we encourage you to draw out specific traces of their lives and practices. The artist at the centre of this investigation can be any artist you choose, provided that her/his artistic engine is performance. The presentation as part of the festival can be a performance, intervention, discussion, workshop, lecture, film, presentation, digital, walk & talk, publication or other audience-facing way of sharing.
